Tragedy struck a festive Navratri celebration in Hyderabad after an eighteen year old engineering student lost her life and seventeen fellow students suffered injuries when a massive metal lighting frame collapsed into a crowded ground at an engineering college in Nadergul.

The tragic accident took place around seven thirty in the evening at Maturi Venkata Subba Rao Engineering College during a campus dandiya night that gathered over six hundred students. Sudden strong winds shook the temporary metal arch structure, causing the heavy framework holding high intensity decorative lamps to topple directly onto the dancing crowd below. First year student Sona Narayan Das suffered fatal head injuries under the falling structure, while her sister and sixteen other students sustained varying injuries as panic broke out across the venue.

Emergency teams and campus personnel rushed the casualties to nearby hospitals, where medical officers confirmed seventeen injured students are safe and receiving treatment. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed deep condolences over the tragic loss and directed law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough safety investigation and take strict legal action against anyone found responsible for structural negligence.
