Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav congratulated his party winning candidates in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC) elections on Wednesday while strictly advising leaders and workers against organizing grand victory processions or street celebrations. Following successful results in key constituencies including the Varanasi and Agra Aligarh Teachers seats Yadav appealed to party members to keep celebrations peaceful and rely primarily on social media to share news of their victory.
Explaining his decision the former Chief Minister warned party workers to stay alert against potential political traps and false allegations ahead of upcoming state elections. Yadav cautioned that loud public rallies could allow political opponents to infiltrate their ranks disturb local law and order and frame Samajwadi Party supporters for creating a public disturbance.
Yadav instructed the newly elected MLCs to instead focus on compiling detailed lists of local supporters booth workers and office bearers who contributed to the election success promising that the party leadership will honor them in formal events.
