The infamous Meerut Blue Drum murder case has taken a major turn after a court sentenced Muskan Rastogi and her lover, Sahil Shukla, to death for the murder of her husband, Saurabh Rajput. However, the death sentence is not final yet and must receive legal approval before it can be carried out. According to The Times of India, Mathura Jail could be the place where Muskan execution takes place if all legal conditions are fulfilled. The jail has a special facility for executing female prisoners and is reported to be the only such facility in India.
Mathura Jail Superintendent Anshuman Garg said the authorities would follow the required legal procedure. The execution can happen only after the higher courts confirm the death sentence and all available legal options are exhausted. If a mercy petition is filed, it must also be decided before the sentence can be carried out. The case dates back to March 3, 2025, when Saurabh Rajput, a Merchant Navy officer, was murdered in Meerut. According to the prosecution, Muskan and Sahil killed him and hid his remains in a blue drum filled with cement to conceal the crime.
The case shocked people across the country because of the nature of the crime. For now, no execution date has been announced. The next steps will depend on the legal process and the decisions of the higher courts.
