A Delhi court has ordered the release of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after their detention by Delhi Police ahead of a planned protest in the national capital. The order was passed on Sunday, October 11, 2026, by the Special Executive Magistrate in Delhi Cantonment.
The three leaders were detained on Saturday shortly after their flight from Mumbai landed in Delhi. They had planned to join a protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The demonstration was linked to concerns over the Election Commission Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.
According to reports, the leaders were taken before the Executive Magistrate under preventive action provisions. The court ordered their release on the condition that they maintain peace and do not engage in activities that disturb public order for one year. A surety bond of ₹50,000 was also reported as part of the release conditions.
Their detention had drawn attention amid wider protests and police action in Delhi. Several protesters and political leaders were also detained during the demonstrations. The CJP had challenged the detention and sought legal intervention over the action taken against its leaders.
The release is a significant development in the ongoing dispute over the planned protest and restrictions imposed by authorities. The CJP leaders are expected to address the media, while questions about protest permissions, preventive detention and the right to peaceful assembly remain part of the wider debate.
