Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has inspected the ongoing construction and beautification work at Chhath Puja ghats along the Munak Canal in northwest Delhi. She has directed officials to complete all necessary work before the festival so devotees can offer prayers without facing problems.
During her visit on Saturday, October 24, the Chief Minister reviewed preparations near Prem Bari Bridge in Singalpur. She checked the progress of ghat construction, roads, pathways, landscaping and other facilities. Gupta instructed officials to complete the ghat walls and nearby pathways on time. She also ordered them to remove construction waste, paint the walls and install decorative lights to create a clean and festive atmosphere.
The Chief Minister stressed that proper drainage, safe access routes and good construction quality must be ensured. She said officials should not compromise on quality just to meet deadlines. She also reviewed plantation and landscaping work along the canal. Officials were asked to prepare a proper plan for green spaces and avoid unnecessary construction that could affect traffic or pedestrian movement.
Cleanliness is another major priority. Gupta directed departments to arrange proper garbage collection and disposal to prevent waste from piling up on roads and footpaths. She also called for regular monitoring of the work. Chhath Puja is an important festival for many people in Delhi, especially devotees who gather near water bodies to offer prayers to the Sun God. This year, the four day festival will be celebrated from November 13 to 16. The government aims to ensure that the Munak Canal ghats are clean, well lit and ready before the festival begins.
