In a major crackdown ahead of Dussehra, Hisar police in Haryana have seized firecrackers worth around ₹3 crore from an alleged illegal manufacturing unit. Police also arrested a man in connection with the case, raising concerns about the unsafe production and storage of fireworks before the festive season. The raid took place at a unit on the Mallapur Asrawan road. Police recovered 633 cartons containing nearly 5,000 kilograms of finished and semi finished firecrackers.
The arrested man has been identified as Kapil, a local resident. During the preliminary investigation, police found that the premises were registered as a plastic granule manufacturing unit. However, the factory owner had allegedly rented the property to Kapil for ₹80,000 per month to manufacture and store firecrackers illegally.
Police said the raid was conducted by a special team after receiving a tip off. Officials also found explosive materials that were allegedly stored without following required safety rules. A case has been registered against Kapil at Adampur police station. Police plan to produce him before a court and seek his remand for further questioning.
Investigators will now examine where the raw materials came from, how the firecrackers were supplied and whether the property owner had any role in the alleged illegal activity. The seizure highlights the importance of checking unauthorised firecracker units, especially during festivals when unsafe storage and production can put workers and nearby residents at risk.
