A major tragic accident occurred at a pharmaceutical factory in the Saykha GIDC industrial area of Bharuch district, Gujarat. A huge 15,000 litre chemical reactor exploded during routine operations at SynZeal Pharmachem Pvt Ltd. The loud blast killed at least five workers on the spot and left six others severely injured.
The force of the explosion was so powerful that the sound was heard up to 15 kilometers away. Heavy machinery, metal sheets, and factory debris were thrown far outside the company premises. The sudden explosion also triggered a leak of Methylene Dichloride gas, creating a thick haze around the area. Many workers and local people complained of severe eye irritation and breathing trouble.
Emergency rescue teams, police officers, and fire tenders quickly rushed to the factory to control the situation. Ambulances shifted the injured workers to nearby private hospitals in Bharuch and Vadodara, while the deceased were taken to Bharuch Civil Hospital. Officials from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board and the Industrial Safety and Health Department have started a detailed investigation to find out the exact cause of the blast and check if proper safety rules were being followed.
