The Supreme Court of India has stepped into the growing political storm over voter list updates, delivering a strong statement. Chief Justice of India Surya Kant clearly stated that the top court has not approved any changes or additions to Form 6 the official application form used by citizens to register as new voters.

This crucial observation directly contradicts claims that the court had previously accepted extra declarations added to the online registration portal. The dispute began after opposition leaders and critics alleged that the Election Commission made unauthorized edits to Form 6. These changes required applicants to answer additional questions linked to special voter revisions, creating fear among citizens about unnecessary dynamic shifts in voter eligibility rules.

Addressing the three judge bench, the CJI emphasized that the court will strictly examine who authorized these modifications once the Election Commission submits its official response. Any modified Form 6 has not been approved by us. Let us be very clear, The bench remarked, promising to review the full legal records.

The court added that while it assumes official constitutional bodies act within legal boundaries, it will not hesitate to strike down decisions found to be improper or unauthorized. As public scrutiny grows over free and fair elections, all eyes remain on the Election Commissions upcoming formal report to the apex court.
