An Indian aviation enthusiast has taken his love for flying to a new level by bringing part of a luxury aircraft cabin into his Dubai home. Arun Rajagopal, originally from Kochi, Kerala, has transformed his apartment with the restored living room of Etihad AirwaysNfamous Airbus A380 Residence suite.
Rajagopal initially wanted to buy only the suite leather sofa. However, he eventually decided to acquire the entire living room section of the aircraft exclusive luxury suite. The restoration work took nearly a year and was completed in June 2026. The Residence is one of the most luxurious experiences offered on Etihad Airbus A380 aircraft. It features a private living room, a separate bedroom and an attached bathroom with a shower.
Turning an aircraft cabin into a working home space was not easy. Engineers repaired damaged parts and adapted the cabin systems for residential use. The finished space includes a television, lighting, powered window shades, charging ports and sliding privacy doors. Even moving the large cabin parts into his apartment was difficult. They were too big for the service lift, so workers carried them upstairs to the seventh floor.
Rajagopal aviation collection also includes aircraft components, first class seats and a coffee table made from an aircraft wheel. He has flown on the Airbus A380 more than 220 times, according to reports. He has not revealed the exact cost of the project, but said the investment could have bought him a car. His unusual home has caught attention online, showing how a personal passion can turn into an extraordinary project.
