Why Is Gen Z Protesting in India?
“WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC…”
we live in a country whose constitutional preamble start with this line ,when we say WE THE PEOPLE OG INDIA" This means that the Constitution derives its authority from the people of India, not from a king, a colonial ruler, or a particular religious group and most importantly The government exists to serve the people, the people do not exist to serve the government.
Years ago, when great leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar would have written it for the people, they would not have imagined that, in the future, a government would come that would forget the meaning of this line, and a generation called Gen Z would step onto the streets to remind them what “WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA” actually means.
Why is Gen Z protesting? Why has no other generation ever united like this? The reason is clear, this generation is wild. It doesn't believe anything without proof. It can see corruption and has the courage to speak about it. We are not lacking in confidence we are rebels who are no longer ready to accept what is wrong.
We are the generation that questions everything, even the things we were taught never to question. We don't want promises we want answers. We don't want to be told that things have always been this way we want to know why they cannot change. Maybe this is what makes us different. We are not here because we believe we are always right, but because we refuse to believe that those in power are always right. And if asking questions makes us rebels, then perhaps it is time we stopped treating rebellion as something to be afraid of.
