The Election Commission of India has officially issued a new work allocation order to restore high level administrative oversight over its top information technology division. The strategic move comes three months after internal disagreement surfaced within the poll panel regarding direct reporting lines of the technology wing.

Under the freshly issued internal orders, Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Pawan Kumar Sharma takes formal charge of supervising the IT operations. The Director General of IT will now report directly to the designated senior deputy level officer, restoring standard administrative protocol within the electoral body.

The administrative restructuring resolves a period of internal debate that began earlier when direct supervision of the IT chief was modified following staff transfers. Election Commissioners Vivek Joshi and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu had raised technical objections to earlier reporting directives. Following detailed internal reviews, the full commission decided unanimously to align the department management with standard administrative guidelines.

Commission officials clarified that technical operations remained fully active during the period, ensuring seamless management of digital voter services across the nation. With the restored supervisory structure in place, the Election Commission aims to strengthen administrative coordination and technological security as official preparations pick up momentum for upcoming electoral events across multiple states.
