Indian Railways has announced 106 special train services for Bihar to manage the heavy passenger rush during Diwali and Chhath Puja 2026. The special trains will connect Bihar with several major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chandigarh and Amritsar. The move aims to make festive travel easier for people returning home to celebrate with their families. One of the major highlights is the introduction of special Vande Bharat Express services between Patna and New Delhi. These trains will operate on selected days until November 2026. Several other special trains will also connect Patna and Danapur with Delhi and Anand Vihar.
Passengers travelling to North Bihar will also get more train options. Special services have been announced for destinations such as Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Barauni, Saharsa, Madhubani, Purnia and Raxaul. According to East Central Railway, several special train services have been planned across different routes. Some trains will run daily, while others will operate on selected days until November or early December.
Railways has also increased security at major Delhi stations. Around 1,300 additional Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have been deployed at New Delhi, Anand Vihar, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Old Delhi stations to manage crowds and help passengers. Passengers should check train numbers, dates, timings and seat availability on official railway platforms before travelling.
