Homegrown SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra has officially introduced the Thar OG, giving its iconic three door off roader a major generational upgrade. Replacing the outgoing three door Thar, the newly badged Thar OG arrives with an attractive introductory starting price of Rs 10.32 lakh, going up to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex showroom) for the range topping trim. Available in three broad trim lines AXT, LXT, and ZXT customer deliveries are scheduled to begin from October 11.
The biggest change in the Thar OG lies underneath its tough body. It now sits on Mahindra modern M Glyde 4G ladder frame platform, which brings superior structural rigidity and enhanced safety. To fix the bumpy ride of the previous model, Mahindra has equipped the SUV with advanced Pentalink rear suspension, DaVinci Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD), and Electric Power Steering for easy maneuvering in city traffic and tight trails.
Fresher Styling, Loaded Cabin, and Standard Safety Tech
On the exterior, the Thar OG maintains its beloved boxy silhouette while adopting a modern five slat grille, all LED headlights with C shaped DRLs, LED cornering fog lamps, new bumpers, and striking 19 inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin gets premium Truffle Brown upholstery, a 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment display, wireless charging, rear AC vents, and washable interior flooring with drain plugs on 4WD variants.
Under the hood, buyers get three refined engine options a 1.5 litre diesel, a 2.2 litre mHawk diesel, and a punchy 2.0 litre mStallion turbo petrol, offered in both rear wheel drive (RWD) and four wheel drive (4WD) configurations. Off roading is made simpler with an electronic locking differential and dedicated terrain modes. Safety is heavily boosted with standard six airbags, all four disc brakes, and an updated ESP 9.3 suite, making the Thar OG a complete, capable lifestyle machine.
