Starting October 1, 2026, domestic cooking gas consumers in India must complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA) to book subsidised LPG cylinder refills at government-controlled prices. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas announced this new rule to make sure that LPG subsidy benefits reach only genuine households and to stop the illegal misuse of domestic cylinders for commercial work.
Official records show that nearly 90 per cent of active domestic consumers—over 27 crore families—have already finished their biometric verification. If you have already done your authentication, you do not need to worry or take any new action; your cylinder bookings will continue normally.
For those who have not completed the process yet, getting it done is quite simple. You can complete the biometric check directly with your LPG delivery agent when your cylinder arrives, visit your local gas agency showroom, or finish it from home using your oil company official mobile app. Consumers who choose not to complete biometric authentication can still get gas cylinders, but they will not receive any government subsidy and must pay prevailing market prices for smaller cylinders. Complete your verification before the deadline to keep receiving uninterrupted cooking gas subsidies.
