The Delhi High Court has provided major relief to lawyers and court staff living in the National Capital Region NCR. Justice Amit Mahajan announced that advocates and judicial workers travelling from nearby areas into Delhi will be exempted from the strict winter ban on non BS VI vehicles. However this relaxation will apply only on court working days.

Earlier the Delhi government Environment Department issued a notification banning all older non BSVI standard vehicles registered outside Delhi from entering the capital to curb winter pollution. Following this rule many lawyers practicing in Delhi courts but residing in neighboring cities like Noida Gurugram or Ghaziabad faced major daily travel problems.

The Delhi High Court Bar Association DHCBA approached the court arguing that advocates and staff perform essential duties to keep the justice system running. They pointed out that if lawyers cannot reach court hearings due to vehicle rules cases suffer directly harming ordinary litigants.

Accepting these points the High Court ruled that judicial work is vital and should not be disrupted. While the general anti pollution vehicle ban remains active for others. advocates and court employees can now commute smoothly for their professional duties on working days.
