Tensions flared up in the Madannapet area of Hyderabad on Sunday afternoon after piece of meat and non-vegetarian food waste was allegedly thrown from the seventh floor of an apartment building during a Ganesh festival program. The incident occurred around 3 PM right near the venue where organizers were preparing for the Ganesh idol immersion and distributing Annadanam (holy food offering).
The sudden act caused outrage among the local devotees and event organizers, leading to brief protests in the nearby Chanchalguda area. Demonstrators accused the perpetrators of deliberately trying to spoil the sacred prasad and disrupt the religious event.
Upon receiving information, police teams led by Charminar Zone DCP Kiran Khare rushed to the spot to control the situation. Officers immediately started an inquiry and detained three residents of the housing society identified as Mohammed Imran Qureshi, Arshiya Begum, and Sameena—for questioning.
Police confirmed that a formal complaint has been filed by the event organizers and strict legal action will be taken against those responsible. Additional police force has been deployed in the locality to ensure safety. Officials confirmed that the situation is now under control and peaceful. Police have strictly warned the public not to share or believe unverified social media rumours that could create communal disharmony.
